As a rule of thumb, wall art should span roughly two-thirds the width of the furniture it hangs above (for example, over a 6 ft sofa, look for a piece 4-5 ft wide, or a grouped arrangement that adds up to that width).

About this painting
The Sacrament of the Last Supper is an oil-on-canvas painting Salvador Dalí completed in 1955 after nine months of work, showing Christ and the apostles seated around a table beneath a large transparent dodecahedron. The painting was not commissioned; collector Chester Dale, who had already donated Dalí's Crucifixion (Corpus Hypercubus) to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, encouraged Dalí to paint another religious work and later gave this canvas to the National Gallery of Art, saying it was "too important to keep for a few." Both the canvas's proportions and the suspended dodecahedron follow the golden ratio, and the painting remains one of the most-viewed works at the National Gallery.
