Every painting on our site comes in a few standard sizes, shown as buttons above the Add to Cart button on each product page. Here's a quick way to picture how each one fits your wall.
- Small / desk & shelf scale (around 12x24 to 16x24 inch): Great above a desk, nightstand, or as part of a gallery wall grouping with other pieces.

As a rule of thumb, wall art should span roughly two-thirds the width of the furniture it hangs above (for example, over a 6 ft sofa, look for a piece 4-5 ft wide, or a grouped arrangement that adds up to that width).

About this painting
Sur la plage à Trouville (On the Beach at Trouville) shows two women, thought to be Monet's wife Camille Doncieux and her cousin, seated on the beach at the Normandy resort of Trouville-sur-Mer in the summer of 1870. Painted in oil on canvas, it was made while Monet was working alongside the painter Eugène Boudin, whose popular beach scenes he reworked into a tighter, more dynamic composition. The museum's own catalogue notes describe the painting's restricted, predominantly grey palette as typical of Monet's early work, combined with loose, rapid brushwork that points toward Impressionism. It has been held by the Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris since 1966, bequeathed by Michel Monet, the artist's son.
