About this painting
"Red Boats, Argenteuil," painted by Claude Monet in 1875, depicts boats moored along the Seine at Argenteuil, the riverside town near Paris where Monet lived and painted extensively from 1871 to 1878. The oil-on-canvas work measures about 82.5 x 61.8 cm and is held in the collection of the Fogg Museum at the Harvard Art Museums, acquired through the bequest of Maurice Wertheim (Harvard Class of 1906).
