About this painting
Estes Park, Colorado refers to the mountain valley below Longs Peak that Bierstadt visited on trips through Colorado in the 1870s, a subject he painted more than once, including a large canvas, Estes Park, Long's Peak (c. 1876-77), now in the Denver Art Museum. Because Bierstadt produced multiple works picturing this location under closely related titles, this print cannot be confirmed as matching one specific documented canvas rather than a related version or preparatory study. His Estes Park paintings share the luminous, theatrical light and sweeping scale typical of his major Rocky Mountain landscapes.
