- Small / desk & shelf scale (around 12x24 to 16x24 inch): Great above a desk, nightstand, or as part of a gallery wall grouping with other pieces.

As a rule of thumb, wall art should span roughly two-thirds the width of the furniture it hangs above (for example, over a 6 ft sofa, look for a piece 4-5 ft wide, or a grouped arrangement that adds up to that width).

About this painting
Painted in 1897, this work depicts the Île aux Orties (Nettle Island), a small island near the confluence of the Epte and Seine rivers close to Monet's home at Giverny, where he moored his boats. Monet painted four versions of this composition that year as part of his exploration of the Seine's misty, luminous atmosphere. The painting is now held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, a gift of Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. McVeigh in 1960.
