- Small / desk & shelf scale (around 12x24 to 16x24 inch): Great above a desk, nightstand, or as part of a gallery wall grouping with other pieces.

As a rule of thumb, wall art should span roughly two-thirds the width of the furniture it hangs above (for example, over a 6 ft sofa, look for a piece 4-5 ft wide, or a grouped arrangement that adds up to that width).

About this painting
Rose Bushes Under the Trees (Rosiers sous les arbres), c. 1905, is a densely patterned garden landscape built from a mosaic of small dabbed strokes describing rose bushes beneath a canopy of trees, with almost no visible sky or horizon. It belonged to Nora Stiasny, a Viennese Jewish collector, until she was forced to sell it far below value in 1938 after the Nazi annexation of Austria; it entered the Musée d'Orsay's collection in 1980. In a well-documented case of mistaken restitution, Austria returned a different Klimt landscape to Stiasny's heirs in 2001 before researchers confirmed in 2017 that this painting, held in Paris, was the actual looted work — France subsequently moved to restitute it to the family.
