About this painting
Wheatfield with Crows depicts a wheat field beneath a dramatic, cloudy sky filled with crows, painted by Vincent van Gogh in July 1890 near Auvers-sur-Oise, in the last weeks of his life. It is an oil on canvas held in the collection of the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. Contrary to popular legend, it was not van Gogh's final painting, though it has long been associated with his death. A central path is rendered in red, intensified by bands of green grass, against a blue sky and yellow-orange wheat.
