- Small / desk & shelf scale (around 12x24 to 16x24 inch): Great above a desk, nightstand, or as part of a gallery wall grouping with other pieces.
- Medium (around 16x36 to 24x36 inch): A strong single statement piece above a sofa, bed, or dining table when paired with the furniture below it.
- Larger formats: Where offered, these work best as the focal point of a room with 8+ ft ceilings or a long wall.
As a rule of thumb, wall art should span roughly two-thirds the width of the furniture it hangs above (for example, over a 6 ft sofa, look for a piece 4-5 ft wide, or a grouped arrangement that adds up to that width).
Which format should I choose?

About this painting
The title "St. Mathew & Angel" is ambiguous between two very different works. It may refer to Saint Matthew and the Angel, Caravaggio's original 1602 altarpiece for the Contarelli Chapel, which was rejected by the clergy for showing the saint as an unlettered peasant and was later destroyed in a fire in Berlin in 1945, surviving only in black-and-white photographs — or it may be an informal name for the accepted replacement, The Inspiration of Saint Matthew, which still hangs in the chapel and is the version almost universally reproduced as prints. Because a print retailer could not source a color image of the lost 1602 original, this listing is treated as most likely referring informally to the surviving Contarelli Chapel painting, though the ambiguity cannot be fully resolved from the title alone.
